Get a decorating quote from just your floor plan

By the PaintMyWalls.co.uk team · 5 min read · Leicester & Leicestershire

You don't need a tape measure, and you don't need to book a visit. Upload a floor plan — the one from the Rightmove listing, an estate-agent PDF, or a builder's drawing — and get a fixed price to paint the whole property in minutes.

Getting a painter round used to mean arranging a day off, waiting in, and then waiting again for a quote to land by email. For a lot of people that's the reason a house never gets decorated. So we built the opposite: a quote you can get tonight, from a plan you already have on your phone.

Upload your plan, get your price

We read the rooms for you. No measuring, no visit, materials included.

How it works, step by step

  1. Upload your floor plan. One image or PDF is enough. If you have separate ground-floor and upstairs plans, add both — we combine every room into one quote.
  2. We read the rooms. The tool identifies each room and its approximate size straight from the plan, and lists them back to you by name.
  3. You confirm and choose. Check the rooms, then answer a few quick questions — walls only or walls, ceilings and skirtings, one colour or a colour per room, doors and frames, and so on.
  4. You get a fixed price. An itemised quote for the whole property, materials included, with your available start dates — ready to reserve online.

What plan should I upload?

Almost any legible floor plan works. The most common ones people use are:

📄 No plan to hand? On most property listings you can save or screenshot the floor plan straight from your phone. That image is all you need to start.

How accurate is it without measurements?

Most listing plans don't print exact dimensions, and that's completely fine. Painting is priced mainly on the area of walls and ceilings, and a floor plan shows the shape and relative size of every room — which is enough to estimate that area closely and produce a firm price. The tool uses the plan's proportions together with typical room sizes to fill in the gaps.

If you do happen to have exact measurements, you can pop them in for an even tighter number, but you don't have to. The estimate is designed to be close to the real figure, not an optimistic teaser.

What you can include or leave out

Once your rooms are loaded, you're in control of the scope. In a couple of taps you can set the whole property at once, then fine-tune any single room:

Leave a room out and it simply isn't in the price. Add it back later and the quote updates instantly.

Why it's still a proper fixed price

A floor-plan quote isn't a vague "from" figure. It's a genuine fixed price with all materials included. The only reasons it would ever change are if the actual rooms turn out different from the plan, or you change the scope yourself — and either way, any change is agreed with you before a brush is lifted. You'll never find an extra on the final invoice because a colour needed a third coat or a room was slightly bigger than the drawing suggested. That's our risk to carry, not yours.

🧾 What "materials included" means here: trade emulsion, woodwork paint, primer, filler, caulk, dust sheets and masking are all in the price. You get one number for the finished job.

Who this is perfect for

The floor-plan quote comes into its own when a visit is awkward or you just want a number now:

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a painting quote from just a floor plan?

Yes. Upload a floor plan — a Rightmove listing plan, an estate-agent PDF or a builder's drawing — and our tool reads the rooms and their approximate sizes, then builds a fixed price for the whole property. You confirm the rooms, choose what to paint, and get an itemised quote in minutes without any measuring or a home visit.

What if my floor plan has no measurements?

Most listing plans don't show exact dimensions, and that's fine. The tool estimates room sizes from the plan's proportions and typical room sizes, which is accurate enough for a firm fixed price. If a room turns out different once we visit or once you give exact measurements, we adjust the fixed price on a quick confirmation before any work starts — you never get a surprise on the final invoice.

Is the floor-plan quote a real fixed price?

Yes. It's a genuine fixed price with materials included, not a rough guess. The only reason it would change is if the actual rooms differ from the plan, or you change the scope — and any change is agreed with you up front.

Do you need to visit the house to quote?

No. The whole point of the floor-plan quote is that you get a price without waiting for a visit — useful when you don't have keys yet, live away, or simply want a number tonight. We're always happy to pop in to confirm details, but it isn't required to give you a price.
